Class Attire: I understand that all students need to wear proper attire to ALL dance classes. All students need to wear a leotard and tights/biker shorts for ballet, tap, and jazz classes. Adults in tap classes may wear loose, comfortable clothing. No jeans are allowed for ANY classes. Students taking street funk/hip hop need to bring a separate pair of sneakers to class. I also understand that the children classes will need to have white tap and ballet shoes for the performance. Pre-teen and teen jazz students need to wear black jazz shoes. Long hair needs to be tied up in a ponytail, braid, bun, etc. No t-shirts should be worn for ballet classes unless the instructor gives permission due to cold weather.
Watch Days: I understand that there will be three designated watch days for friends and relatives to observe. They are the first week of November, February, and April. These are the ONLY days that anyone is able to observe. Parents may wait in the designated wait areas. This helps to eliminate the problem of children running back and forth to see their parent and observers. Other students feel tense or intimidated with people watching them. We are committed to providing the best possible environment for our students to learn.
Payment Policy: I understand that the class payment may be divided into equal monthly installments to provide for budgeting purposes. If the season extends into June, the clients choosing the yearly rate will have June pro-rated with the 10% discount. Monthly payments are due on the first class of each month. A $5.00 late fee will be applied if not received by the 15th of each month. I understand that I do have the option of paying for the whole year, half year, or thirds if I so desire. I also know that I have the option of mailing in my payments so as to meet the requirement of paying the first week. (Paying in monthly installments places an extremely larger amount of work on the studio. We believe in providing this option for affordability.) I know that there is no discount on monthly tuition for holidays, school or family vacations, or absence from class. Classes cancelled by City Dance will be made up if it exceeds more than one class. Any bounced check will be subject to a $25.00 bounced fee. There are NO refunds.
Costume Payments: I understand that all students wishing to perform in the spring performance will need to purchase a costume. The fee for the costumes will be around $55.00 for one costume. Students in more than one dance piece will require either another costume or costume pieces at an additional fee. All students will need to pay a $30.00 deposit per costume on the first class of November. The balance will be due on the first class of December. Any costume not paid in full by December 15th will not be ordered. There is no refund on costumes already purchased. Some classes may require that students purchase tights at an additional cost of $10.00. I understand that I will be notified about tights when the costumes arrive.
Performance: I understand that all students will be performing in up to two performances at the end of the year. The only classes guaranteed not to be in two shows are the pre-school classes; because of their age, they only perform in one matinee. If I do not wish to perform, then it is my responsibility to inform my instructor during the month of November. Students are also required to attend up to two rehearsals in order to prepare for the shows. There will be tickets that go on sale for parents, family, and friends to attend these shows.
Snow Cancellations: I understand that it is my responsibility to find out if class has been cancelled due to bad weather. I know that cancellations are announced on WGAN 56.0 AM, WMGX 93.1 FM, Channel 13 News, WGME.com, and on the City Dance website. Because weather can change so suddenly in Maine, class cancellations are determined around 2:00p.m. and by 8:00a.m. on Saturdays. We highly recommend calling the studio or checking our website/facebook page twenty minutes before class begins.
Advertisement Release: I give my permission to allow City Dance to use any photos and/or videos of myself and/or son/daughter for advertisement purposes. It is my responsibility to notify the studio in writing by the end of the first month after registration if I do not give permission for myself (18 and older) or my child(ren).

Each student may decline to participate in any activity which may be harmful and is also responsible to inform the instructor of any physical limitations which may prevent full participation in class.
